Voila!!! It's been awhile and whilst BIG things went down during our second to last event of the Women's Tour this year. Traveling here we knew all the possiblities but tried to keep them hush hush;)

I flew over with all the Hawaiian's - Carissa, Melanie and Alana. It was the first time we were all together. Super fun! The event had a few lay days and trying conditions but we all kept our heads up and things turned around!

The waves cooperated and got really fun for the last day. I had two fun close heats with Paige Hareb (Rd4) and Steph in the Quarters. It was nice to get more than one or two fun waves in a heat and really get to surf!!! Carissa did the deed and sealed the deal with amazing surfing all day.

So inspiring and very well deserved. It's been such a whirlwind growing up together and seeing dreams really come true. It gave me so much to look forward to in life and strive for. Love you Rissa... so proud to call you my friend. And the show goes on....................

Charity of Choice

This video shows a little of what I've been doing with my free time at home between events.

For Spring and Summer 2011 I teamed up with Volcom to create my signature boardshort which is a part of the Give Back Series where I chose to GIVE BACK MY TIME to a charity of choice.

It's the most satisfying feeling every time I leave 'the Clubhouse' knowing I may have influenced one of the kids lives to live out there biggest dreams and have them realize they have the choice on how to lead their lives.

Newcastle: the whole story

Hellooo... Bonjourr... Olaaa.... Oiiii..... Konichiwaaa...

I went to Newcastle (just North of Sydney) for a Six Star WQS with my whole posse! There was seven of us staying together. I think it was the first time our whole group stayed together. It was so fun having the entire group- waking up early and going surfing, having coffees, hyper dance-offs, screaming beyonce and rihanna, walking to dinners etc. etc.

It was my second day there and first day of competition when I called my mom to wish her Happy Birthday.... then she told me how my Grandmother had been sick and in ICU for a week and nobody told me because they knew how much she means to me and thought it would get better much quickly. I almost called the travel agent then and there to leave and be at her side. I had so much support from all my friends saying just stay it'll be four days and ill be home...Although my first heat, I was still crying and couldn't stop thinking of the absolute worst scenarios I almost forgot I was in a heat and barely made it with two really average scores.

I got back on the phone with my Mom, Coach, Dad and they said, "Coco pull it together SURF FOR HER." From the next heat on I did- 100% heart and soul. I would tell myself for every heat I made gave her strength. I went on to having some of the highest scores I've got all year. I ended up winning and really owing it to everyone who encouraged me to stay. I know she would have wanted to me stay too, she is always online watching sending comments and asking how other girls got better scores and cute things like that Grandma's do ;)

I went straight from the airport to see her and my Mom told her I won she woke up and smiled with her eyes. The most beautiful smile I ever seen. Before breaking down hysterically I told her how much I loved her and wanted to her stay strong. When she saw my tears her face changed and blood pressure rushed so they asked me to leave so she could relax and heal. Till today she is still in there but I made it home in time to give her my loving words and send her all the strength I have left for she is my EVERYTHING. Continue to send your prayers... everything counts.

The dancing doesn't stop!

Soooo... it's been a long week of lay days. March 5th was Alana's 21st and whilst we were waiting for the contest call we tried to keep active and made this little dance video!

It's done a great job getting everybody talking in the competitors area. I've gotten on the elevator in my hotel and the guys are going, "nice video" since it hit Facebook. It's now on Transworld Magazine, Laura's Site, Nage's site, and Freddy P just tweeted about it!

So thought I'd show you guys too, it's just what we do!!!!!

Starting up the year on the Gold Coast

Hey all!

So it's been a nice and easy two months off. I enjoyed a lot of time at home...working with Charity and spending time with my Mama. It's time though... I've been on the Gold Coast for almost 10 days now and the contest starts soon. The waves and weather here in Coolangatta have really come around for us. The next couple days should be really exciting everyone is looking fresh and right on point!!!

Last night was the Champion's crowning. It was one of two really big nights in Surfing. It was so nice to see everyone in the surf world all suited up (Yes! The boys were wearing suits!) and me and the girls had a fabulous time dolling up and walking the 'blue' carpet together.

Kelly and Steph had the most amazing, sentimental, motivating speeches I will never forget. Those two are TRUE CHAMPIONS!

A Picture That Portrays It

It's not often you can say you're good friends with the Champ.... even if she's the one you compete against professionally. In my case, I can. Steph has been my inspiration since the day I first met her on the Gold Coast when I was thirteen.

Not only has she been my inspiration since then, but an amazing friend too! Steph is someone I can watch and learn something from everyday all while not even knowing, she's someone who makes every situation bright :) and nearly everybody can see that.

This picture portrays that so much to me, I had to share it!

Winter X Games

This past weekend I was luckyenough to join the Target crew and watch the Winter X Games inAspen, Colorado.

It wasn't my first time to the snow but it was my first time actually getting to ride. It had its similarities and differences to Surfing but once I started to figure it out it SO much fun. Safe to say I was addicted.

It was so fun getting to ride with my dad and enjoy something together outside of Surfing.

I also got to see a few friends I barely see throughout the year. I loved hanging with them and seeing there lifestyles. Pictured below is Carissa and our fellow Nike 6.0 team girl- Ellery Hollingsworth.

Last but not least... I got to watch two of my best friends, Elena Hight and Louie Vito, compete and take home medals in the Super Pipe! It was so amazing to see them in there element and shine in what they do. Pictured below (Louie, myself, and Elena)

P.s. This was Louie's day of competition- nothing better to practice his runs by making a Snowman! Haha. Good times :)

Remembering Andy

This is my tribute to Andy... straight from my personal journal.

November 3rd 2010

"Yesterday Andy passed. He was an icon that affected every athlete in this sport and more. For Hawaiians even more so. Its going to be such a hard winter accepting this in our homelands during the time he shined most. Im on my 3rd flight home now from Puerto Rico. My dad and I are having the hardest time accepting this. We have shared a thousand tears and said a million prayers for Lyndie, baby Axel, Bruce, his Mom and Dad and all his friends this has affected.

From all this I learned so many things being the first death so close to me- I learned how fragile this life really is; we cant take any moments with loved ones for granted. We'll never know when we go. I also seen for the first time the true meaning of 'friends' - everyone being there for each other. Their comfort and words was the main thing that mellowed me out. Im so lucky to have the most amazing friends.

It's so sad it had to happen so soon with the circumstances left behind. It always seems to happen this way. On this day every one I call a 'best friend' reached out. I couldnt have had any better support during this hard time. Now my deepest prayers are for Lyndie and baby Axel. I pray she stays strong for this is the last bit of Andy she will have. I would do anything for her a this point for her, drop anything- any event, any win.

Hawaii will not be the same for he was our first hope on tour for my generation. I will never forget. My whole heart hurts."

This was straight from my journal--my thoughts and feelings I had to let out on the plane.

There is truly no words that can describe this loss. Andy was the most loving inspiration. He gave me so much good advice and reasons to really want to be a competitor. I still cant quite bring up memories yet, it still hurts way too much.

Rest in Paradise our King.....

I came across this photo of my Dad and Uncle Dino and it really made me appreciate their efforts. This was an early morning on the Pier before U.S Open.

I have to say my Brother, Kolohe, and myself wouldn't be half of what we are today without their hard work, love, and belief.

Mentawaii Boat Trip w/ Nike 6.0

Hey all!

Sorry it's been awhile since my last update. This summer has been pretty action-packed.

After the WT event in Peru and my little excursion to Brazil I had two weeks at home before I went to Indonesia with the Nike 6.0 Team. It was originally for the girls team but then we were informed 5 boys would be joining myself, Laura, Carissa, and Monyca. We didn't mind because the boys brought a lot of laughter during the 12 days boat trip with not much surf :(

The waves weren't 'perfect' everyday like we all expected but we all keep busy and had fun. We got a lot of interviews and lifestlyes done, that's for sure! Boat trips are always fun because it's 12 days in a small place with the same people... you really start to know everyones routines. It was amazing surfing with all the boys to- Michel Bourez, Dusty Payne, Nat Young, Gabriel Medina, and Kai Barger. When we weren't surfing we played a lot of games and watched movies. We had an amazing crew on the Pelagic keeping us satisfied!

After 12 days everyone was pretty excited to get home before a hectic two weeks of U.S Open.

Swatch Girls PRO Seignosse France

This event was Swatch's first event in Women's Surfing! It was phenominal... they did such a great job best competitors area ever! Coffee machine, Fresh juices, great lunch, and amaazzing chocolate croissaints:)

Oh did I mention a red carpet? haha, that was cute! Soo Swatch set up a house for myself, Steph, and Alana. We took Nage under our wing as well. BEST CREW! Had sooo much fun surfing the beachbreaks of hossegor and hanging with the girls!!! Our house was hugeee and had heated floors which were MUCH needed being only 9 degrees celcius out!

So I ended all the way in the FINAL which I kinda didn't expect kinda getting use to my board and just being there alone....no daddy! Haha. But I was very proud of myself and stoked with some of my heats. Finally busted out of the 8 range and got a couple 9's. Wooo. I think surfing and watching the boys at lowers helped a lotttt!

After two days of LOTs of heats I was pretty exhausted by the final Im not gonna lie... but it was such an honor being in a 6* final with Steph. She is the world champ after all and an amazing friend and travel partner. I had such a good time. MERCI beaucoup!

Swatch Girls Pro Junior France

Soooo I went all the way to Seignosse france for the 6* Qs so I figured I'd enter the Jr as well! Itwas a nice little warm up for the big one...

I made it to the final along with Courtney, Laura, and Nage. It was held on one of the Qs days and had me hard at work. I think I surfed a total of 4 or 5 heats that day. Very draining!

The final ended up being 35 minutes of pure duck diving....not fun! Managed to find a peak and get 2nd : )

Lower Trestles

Probably the smartest thing I've done this year was go to San Clemente and watch the men's Prime QS at Lower Trestles. I only had a few days home but with my brother and dad going I figured why not?

It was the smartest thing Ive done because I got to watch the best surfing I've seen in awhile. It was so fun surfing with the boys too... So many fun sessions at Uppers between heats!

Congrats to ALL the boys you guys did a wonderful job, put on a spectacular show!!!!!

Sydney, Northern Beaches

Sydney I was sick for most of the event. The only thing that kept me sane was being in the comfort of the Enever Family's home :) They are the most amazing family... They made Sydney feel like home. After 2 and half months and on the road all I wanted to do was go home... but with them it wasn't so bad. I had a lot of fun surfing Narrabeen with the local kids everyday and trying all my new chilli's!

Laura, myself, and Bruna kept busy in the flat days of Sydney playing around Narrabeen!

We continued the 2010 Volcom Brand Jeans Campaign on one of the many lay days in Sydney!

Taranaki, New Zealand

New Zealand was def the event I was most excited for this year. And it was even cooler than I thought! There was such a stretch of beach and point breaks to surf. Only problem- the surf was too small and then got too big all too fast! Round one was at a fun right point before it got to big... than things changed and Round 3 was ran at a big dumpy beach break... unfortunate for me I got my worst result of my year thus far =9th.

Bells Beach, Victoria

G'dayyyy Mateeeeee

Bells was fun this year. It was small a lot of the days but I kept busy surfing Winkipop and making dance video's at our cozy little house in Jan Juc. Here's a pic from my Quarter Final heat I lost to Sally Fitz.

Bells is different from any event on tour because everyone's so bundled up! It's really a test to see who can handle and keep composed in the cold. Here's my everyday attire. Beenies and Uggs were essentials. There was even a heater in the competitors area and jacuzzi.. yaaa that's the life!

Like I said before there were a lottt of lay days. I did a ferry mission twice to the other side with my friends Jeremy, Bruna, Maxime, Lee Ann and Nage. It was entertaining to say the least...

Snapper Rocks, Gold Coast

Hey guys! So I'm gonna blog on every event etc. etc. but Im already a bit behind so Ill start the first few off with pictures and a little about each :) hope you like it!

The ASP Champion's crowning is one of two nights a year (and Surfer Poll) Surfer's get to realllyyyy dress up and walk a red carpet! This year was so special to me because I accepted two awards- the 2009 WQS Champion as well as Rookie of the Year. Yup, I was dateless = (

Snapper's banks were really fun this year. I went a whole two weeks early and stayed with a friend, Steph, and tried about 12 new boards- no joke! A few days I went off with some of the Nike 6.0 team down the coast to find our own waves. I always psyche up surfing with the likes of Kolohe Andino, Gabriel Medina, Evan Gielsmen and the new generation.

The Gold Coast is HOT! Here is one of my midday pitt-stops Cold Rock with friends Bruna Schmitz and Claudia Goncavles.
